Are you ready to invest in the top real estate agent out there that has the most contracts under his or her belt? Are you looking for an agent that is someone you know? When selecting a professional to help you to buy or sell a home, it is important to look beyond the basic information you have. After all, this person stands to profit from you; they should be working for you.

Choose the Right Agent

There are many factors to consider when it comes to selecting an agent. One of those is to know his or her affiliation with the national organization representing real estate agents. If your agent is not a Realtor, find out why. This is one easy step in the right direction. Consider the following.

  • Interview your agent. Rather than just hiring a real estate agent that greets you, find out what they will and will not do for you. Learn his or her expectations, too. Is this person someone you would not mind spending hours in the car with or working with for several months?
  • Next, consider his or her track record in your neighborhood. What makes this professional a success locally? This can be one of the more important factors since finding someone local means they know the market well.
  • Be sure he or she has the proper credentials. Only work with someone who has a license that is active for your state.

A variety of factors will play a role in whether you should hire a real estate agent or not. Go with your gut feeling. Does this person feel like a good choice for your particular needs?
